Carya
The Hamadryades were a special group of tree nymphs in Greek mythology. Each one was bound to a specific species of tree, and their lives were closely tied to the life of their tree. Karya was one such nymph, associated with the walnut tree and possibly also hazelnut and chestnut trees. She was revered as the guardian of these trees.
